Symantec
If you have Symantec installed, usually an icon of a gold colored shield will appear next to your clock at the bottom right of the screen. Double-click it to open Symantec. The Virus Definition File version date should be no more than a few days older than today's date. In the image below, the RED arrow points to the virus definition date, and the BLACK arrow points to the button to click to find out the version.
Deep Freeze
Deep Freeze icon
Deep Freeze is currently being uninstalled throughout the district. If Deep Freeze is installed on a computer you will see a small polar bear in the bottom right corner of the task bar next to the clock.Computers can be setup two different ways: Teacher or Student. Student frozen computers do not allow files to be saved on their desktop or in their documents. Teacher frozen computers allow files to be saved on their desktop or in their documents. This is important to know if you need to "borrow" a student frozen PC because your normal PC has a major problem. On both Teacher and Student setups, files may be saved to the U: drive (also called the thawspace).
A PC with Deep Freeze is either "frozen", where it will not allow changes, or "thawed", where it will allow changes. Changing from one mode to the other requires a restart of the computer. Computers may be thawed by contacting Robert Gray @ 221-5142 ext. 6229.
